Bordeaux - Expensive Wine and a 10 day growth
20.11.2008
Well, our time in Bordeaux started off poorly as we checked into the Youth Hostel from Hell! Our dorm room was full of mould, stuffy and our mattresses were completely covered in plastic. The icing on the cake? The used bandaid left on the shower ceiling for us as a welcome gift. To escape our awful hostel we decided to splurge on a day tour to the Bordeaux wine region, it turned out to be one of the best tours we've done so far. We started off at a wine museum and learnt all about the history of the wine industry, we then headed to lunch at a cheese cafe, where we had duck and several courses of cheese inspired dishes followed by an all you can eat pass to their cheese basement (Jeremy over indulged). After lunch we headed to a couple of wineries where we sampled a couple of vintages and enjoyed the Bordeaux countryside. Over all there was not much to this place other than a well protected wine making industry.
